Discussion:
Aboriginal term(s) for Australia?
(too old to reply)

Tonight on the CBC Radio One program Reclaimed, which
features indigenous music from Turtle Island and around
the world, the host referred to “so-called Australia”.

So does that mean there is no name agreed on by
“Australian" aboriginals? Are there several names?

Anyway, greetings from Newfoundland, where it is
still Krampusnacht, and I am hoping to put a cramp
in the lives of many criminals worldwide.

I've never considered that .... and as there never was ONE 'Aboriginal'
nation (as far as I know), I doubt they had one unified name for the
continent, either.

Apparently there were about 500 families/tribes/nations prior to the
White man getting here .... and claiming it was "Terra Nullius" ('No
Mans Land') and taking it all and calling it "Australia".
